Vegetable CSA Boxes

Our vegetables are grown by Morning Star Produce which consists of six families managing one to several acres of produce. These families are located only a few miles down the road from us here at Pleasant View Farms.

All the veggies are grown organically using sustainable methods to improve soil health which will produce a more nutrient dense vegetable for our bodies. They use animal compost, cover crops and crop rotation to build the soil. For insect control the primary source of control is the use of row cover (a gauze type sheet that covers the veggies to protect them from the insects but still lets light and water in) and crop rotation. They have used certified organic sprays before but have not been happy with the results as it seemed to set the plants back in growth and production. All the farming is done by horses and hand labor with small families all working together.

When you sign up for a csa box, your fresh veggies will come in a ¾ bushel box in a wide variety of color, and types. You might find some of these veggies in a box: salad mix, spinach, lettuce, carrots, radishes, asparagus, rhubarb, new potatoes, cucumbers, beets, tomatoes, broccoli, onions, berries, kohlrabi, summer squash, chard, beans, peppers, eggplant, cabbage, melons, corn, winter squash, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, turnips, etc. etc.
